The Ecumenical Sauharda Christmas Celebration was joyfully held at the Milagris High School Hall, Haliyal, on 17th December 2025, bringing together members of different Christian denominations in a spirit of unity, harmony, and festive joy.
The program began with a meaningful prayer song rendered by Kavitha Bhatkande, setting a reverent tone for the celebration. Rev. Fr. Edwin Paul D’Souza warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of ecumenical fellowship, especially during the Christmas season.
The honored guests included Rev. Fr. Raymond Fernandes, Dean; Rev. Fr. Francis Miranda, Parish Priest; Rev. Fr. Edwin Paul; and pastors and leaders from various Christian denominations. Representatives of the Catholic community—Mr. Robert Kerwadkar, Mr. Anil Fernandes, Mrs. Mala Braganza, and Mr. Kamal Sequeira—were also present. All the dignitaries were respectfully honored with roses.
As part of the celebration, a Christmas cake was ceremoniously cut and distributed to all, symbolizing sharing, joy, and togetherness. The program was enriched with melodious carols by youth girls, followed by an inspiring Christmas message by Rev. Fr. Raymond Fernandes, who reflected on the true meaning of Christmas as a celebration of God’s love, peace, and unity among all people.
Further reflections were shared by Pastor Hunthmanth Methri, Pastor Maruthi of Bhatkande, and Mr. Kamal Sequeira, each emphasizing harmony, mutual respect, and social responsibility. A vibrant dance performance by girls from other Christian denominations added color and joy to the celebration.
The Women’s League of Milagris Church added a special festive touch by rendering Christmas carols, which were warmly appreciated by the gathering. The program concluded with a concluding address by Rev. Fr. Francis Miranda, who expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged continued ecumenical collaboration in fostering peace and goodwill in society.
The celebration stood as a beautiful witness to Christian unity and the spirit of Christmas, leaving the participants inspired and strengthened in faith and fellowship.
