Government Officials’ Christmas Get-Together Celebrated at KDDC, Karwar

The Diocese of Karwar organized a meaningful Government Officials’ Christmas Get-Together Celebration at KDDC, Karwar, on 23rd December 2025. The program brought together officials, clergy, religious, and invited guests in a spirit of harmony, fellowship, and Christmas joy.

The program was compered by Rev. Fr. Steevan D’Souza and commenced with a warm welcome address by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Lopes, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries with flowers. The celebration was formally inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, invoking God’s blessings upon all present.

The gathering was honored by the presence of Most Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar; Dy. SP S. V. Girish; Mr. Prajith; Mr. George Fernandes; and Rev. Fr. Richard Rodrigues, Vicar General. Many priests and religious sisters from different parts of the Diocese were also present, adding to the spirit of unity and communion.

A joyful cake-cutting ceremony marked the festive celebration. The program was enriched by Christmas carol singing by the Kajubagh youth, whose melodious presentation beautifully conveyed the message of peace, hope, and joy of the Nativity.

In his address, Dy. SP S. V. Girish emphasized the importance of service with the right motive, stating that Christ is peace in a world disturbed by conflict. Sharing from his personal experience, he mentioned that members of his family studied in Christian institutions, where they imbibed strong moral values. He observed that while peace is lacking in the world today, the teachings of Jesus offer true peace, and he extended his Christmas wishes to all.

Addressing the gathering, Most Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, conveyed his Christmas greetings and called upon everyone to come together in unity. He expressed gratitude to all officials for their dedicated service to society and reminded the gathering that Jesus came into the world to bring peace, especially to the downtrodden and marginalized. Highlighting the importance of the manger, the Bishop underlined the values of humility and simplicity. He further stressed that the Church stands for inclusion, love, and harmony, affirming that everyone is included and loved, and that religion calls us to love all without discrimination.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Richard Rodrigues, Vicar General. The celebration ended with a fellowship meal, providing an opportunity for interaction and strengthening bonds of fraternity. The event stood as a powerful witness to the Christmas message of peace, service, unity, and inclusive love.
