Communio Awareness Seminar was held for the Priests of the Diocese of Karwar

A Communio Awareness Seminar for the diocesan clergy was held on 11th June 2026 at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Karwar, to introduce the vision, mission, and activities of Communio, an initiative of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI).

The program began with the introduction of the resource person, Sr. Margarita Dias, SCB, Associate Director for the Communio Training Program, by Fr. Ronny Rodrigues, Diocesan Communio Secretary. In her presentation, Sr. Margarita explained the origin of Communio, the reasons for its establishment, and the various ministries and projects undertaken by the organization. 

Through engaging presentations and videos, she provided the participants with a clear understanding of Communio’s mission and its contribution to the life and ministry of the Church.

In his introductory address, Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, spoke about the importance of Communio in strengthening the Church’s evangelizing mission. He appreciated the dynamic work being carried out through the organization and encouraged the priests to actively support its initiatives within the Diocese.

There was interactive question-and-answer session, during which the participants sought clarifications on various aspects of the Communio ministry. Sr. Margarita Dias, responded to the questions and encouraged greater collaboration in promoting youth ministry and evangelization efforts.

As a gesture of appreciation and collaboration, the Communio team presented tokens of gratitude to Bishop Duming Dias, Fr. Silvan Rodrigues, and Fr. Ronny Rodrigues for their support and commitment to the mission of Communio in the Diocese.

Following the session, the Bishop announced the formation of a Diocesan Communio Team and encouraged the establishment of Parish Communio Teams throughout the Diocese. It was also decided that the Third Sunday of September would be observed annually as Communio Sunday in the Diocese of Karwar.

The Bishop thanked Sr. Margarita Dias for her informative and inspiring presentation and expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the successful organization of the seminar.
