Clergy Meeting Reflects on Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical Magnifica Humanitas
A clergy meeting of the Diocese of Karwar was held at Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, on 10th and 11th June 2026. The gathering provided an opportunity for the priests of the diocese to deepen their understanding of the newly issued encyclical letter of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, Magnifica Humanitas.
The resource person for the session was Rev. Fr. Nathanial Cruz, who offered a comprehensive insight into the encyclical. He was introduced by Rev. Fr. Richard Rodrigues, Vicar General of the Diocese of Karwar.
In his presentation, Fr. Nathanial explained the background and purpose of the encyclical, highlighting the pastoral concerns and contemporary challenges that prompted the Holy Father to issue this important document. He also provided a detailed explanation of the five chapters of Magnifica Humanitas, helping the clergy to appreciate its key themes and practical implications for the Church’s mission today.
The priests actively participated in the discussions and reflections, making the sessions both enriching and insightful.
At the conclusion of the programme, Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, expressed his gratitude to Fr. Nathanial Cruz for his enlightening and well-presented exposition of the encyclical. The Bishop encouraged the clergy to study the document carefully and to incorporate its teachings into their pastoral ministry.
