The Commission for Laity of the Diocese of Karwar organized a Get-Together of the Think-Tank Committee at Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, Karwar on 21st June 2026. Fourteen members from different parts of the diocese participated in the gathering.
The programme commenced with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Lancy Rodrigues, Director of the Commission for Laity. Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, welcomed the participants and introduced the vision and purpose of the diocesan Think-Tank Committee, emphasizing its role in fostering reflection, dialogue, and pastoral planning for the growth of the Church.
The resource person for the programme was Rev. Fr. Sudeep Paul, MSFS, former Director of Sandesha Foundation, Mangalore, and former Regional Secretary of the Social Communication Commission of the Karnataka Regional Bishops’ Conference. Through two insightful sessions, he reflected on the concept of a think tank in the history of the Church and highlighted the importance of faith and reason, dialogue and discernment, the Church’s intellectual heritage, and the shared mission of all the faithful.
Fr. Sudeep also addressed the challenges facing the Church in today’s rapidly changing social and political context, with particular attention to the impact of technological advancements and the rise of artificial intelligence. He invited participants to reflect on how the Church can effectively respond to these developments, especially in accompanying and guiding young people and children.
The sessions were followed by a fruitful discussion during which participants shared their perspectives and raised questions concerning the future pastoral mission of the Church. The gathering concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and a fellowship meal, strengthening the spirit of communion and collaboration among the members.
The programme provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, dialogue, and vision-building as the Diocese of Karwar continues its mission of evangelization and service in the modern world.
