MCA Unit installed at Holy Cross Church, Donihalla

The Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization, Diocese of Karwar, successfully inaugurated a new Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Unit at Holy Cross Church, Donihalla, on 26 July 2026, marking another significant step in nurturing missionary spirit among children.

The celebration began with a solemn Eucharistic procession led by the MCA children, followed by the lighting of the candles. The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Stewart Fernandes, Secretary of the Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization, and concelebrated by the Parish Priest Fr. Cyril Miranda and Fr. Mark Fernandes. During the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Mark Fernandes delivered a meaningful homily.

Following the Holy Mass, the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Unit was officially installed at the parish. The newly formed unit comprises 22 children under the guidance of a dedicated animator.

The parish also celebrated Grand Parents’ Day, honouring senior members of the community for their invaluable contribution to family and faith life.

An MCA formation session was then conducted by Fr. Stewart Fernandes, who explained the vision, objectives and goals of the Missionary Childhood Association. He also guided the children and animator on conducting regular MCA meetings and encouraged the children to actively participate in missionary activities, prayer and service.

At the conclusion of the programme, Fr. Cyril Miranda, Parish Priest, expressed his sincere gratitude to Fr. Stewart Fernandes for visiting the parish and establishing the MCA Unit. He also appreciated the dedication of the animator and the enthusiastic participation of the children, encouraging them to become “Little Missionaries” who joyfully proclaim the love of Christ through their words and actions.

The programme concluded with renewed enthusiasm as the parish welcomed its newest MCA unit, praying that the children may continue to grow in faith, missionary zeal and Christian witness.
