The Desk for Theology and Doctrine, in collaboration with the Commission for the Laity, organised a Theology Course on “Introduction to Scripture” for the laity of Kumta, Kone and Kajubag Deaneries at Christ Light of the World Church, Madangeri, on 26 August 2026. Around 40 participants took part in the course.

The programme began with a prayer led by Fr. Romeo Fernandes, priest in charge of Madangeri. The resource person for the course was Rev. Fr. Lancy Rodrigues, Director of the Laity Commission. He introduced the participants to the Bible, explaining its historical background, formation, authorship, manuscripts and various versions. He also highlighted the significance of Sacred Scripture in the life and faith of every Christian.

The sessions further explored important themes such as God’s Revelation and its stages in salvation history, the fulfilment of Revelation in Jesus Christ, the development of Oral Tradition, and the writing down of inspired material. The Catechism of the Catholic Church served as the principal reference material throughout the sessions.

The participants showed keen interest and actively engaged in the seminar-style discussions. As a refreshing activity during the interval, a Bible Housie was conducted with the assistance of Fr. Bosteanv Nazareth, Parish Priest of Divalli. He also proposed the vote of thanks, expressing special gratitude to Fr. Romeo Fernandes, the host, and to all those who contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme.

The course concluded with the Angelus and a blessing by Fr. Lancy Rodrigues, bringing to a close a meaningful and enriching day of learning and reflection on Sacred Scripture.
