Pastoral visit of the Bishop to Holy Cross Church, Manki
The pastoral visit of Most Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, to Holy Cross Church, Manki, was held on 26 and 27 September 2026. The Bishop was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Vilet Fernandes, along with the Parish Pastoral Council members. The faithful accompanied him in a solemn procession into the church, with the parish choir and a welcome dance by the Assisi School children.
This was followed by a prayer service led by the Bishop, marking the beginning of the pastoral visit. Following the prayer service, he led the faithful in procession to the parish cemetery, where prayers were offered and the cemetery was blessed. He also met the Catholic Women’s Association, Altar Boys and Marian Girls, and visited one of the parish wadis as part of the liturgical preparations.
On the second day, the faithful gathered for the Rosary and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Benediction and the final blessing by the Bishop. The Festal Holy Eucharist was then celebrated with the Bishop as the main celebrant, concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Vilet Fernandes and Fr. Intru Pinto.
The Bishop also visited Francis Nilaya Convent of the FMCK congregation and met representatives of the parish associations and ministries, including the Parish Pastoral Council, ICYM, Catholic Association, Catechism Teachers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
The two-day pastoral visit concluded with thanksgiving and renewed encouragement for the parish community.
