MCA Unit Inaugurated at Sacred Heart Church, Karikal, Bhatkal
The Karwar Diocesan Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization inaugurated the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Unit at Sacred Heart Church, Karikal, Bhatkal, on 11 October 2026, with the participation of children and parish animators.
Rev. Fr. Stewart Fernandes, Director of the Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization, celebrated the Holy Eucharist and preached on the theme of context of the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time. He encouraged the children to grow in faith, live out Gospel values and actively participate in the mission of the Church. The MCA children, accompanied by the Director and animators, took part in the entrance procession. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the inauguration of the unit. The children themselves actively participated in the liturgical celebration.
Following the homily, the rite of admission into the Missionary Childhood Association was conducted, formally welcoming 14 children into the MCA. After the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Stewart Fernandes conducted a training session, explaining the aims, objectives and importance of MCA in nurturing missionary awareness, prayer, sharing and concern for children around the world. The children participated actively and showed keen interest in understanding their missionary responsibilities.
Ms. Rekha Rani expressed her gratitude to Fr. Stewart Fernandes on behalf of Rev. Fr. Raymond Fernandes, Parochial Administrator of Sacred Heart Church, Karikal, for his presence, guidance, and support in establishing the MCA Unit. The inauguration marked an important step towards fostering missionary spirit and commitment among the children of the parish.
