Media Awareness and Cyber Safety Training held at Karikal Church

The Karwar Diocesan Commission for Social Communication organized a training programme on Media Awareness, Cybercrime and Cybersecurity at Sacred Heart Church, Karikal, Bhatkal, on 11 October 2026. The programme was attended by 17 participants and aimed to promote responsible media usage and greater awareness of online safety.

Rev. Fr. Stewart Fernandes, Director of the Commission for Social Communication, conducted the sessions, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of media and the Church’s teachings on responsible communication. He also explained various aspects of cybercrime and cybersecurity, emphasizing the need for vigilance and responsible behaviour while using digital platforms.

The sessions provided valuable insights into the challenges and risks associated with the digital world. Through practical questions and interactive discussions, participants were encouraged to understand common online threats and adopt safe practices while using the internet and social media.

The training programme was enriching and informative, equipping participants with greater awareness of responsible media use and the importance of protecting themselves from cybercrime in an increasingly digital society.
