Diocese of Karwar Constitutes First Diocesan Service of Communion (DSC)

The Diocese of Karwar joyfully constituted its first Diocesan Service of Communion (DSC) on August 30–31, 2025, at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Shirwad, Karwar. On August 30th, the program began with registration and breakfast. Fr. Franklin D’Souza led the Praise and Worship. Most Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of the Diocese of Karwar, inaugurated the program.

The program was guided by a resource team comprising Fr. Franklin D’Souza (KRSC Spiritual Director), Bro. Savio Mascarenhas (NSC), Bro. Thomas Chinnappa (KRSC Secretary), Fr. Joachim Monteiro (Karwar DSC Spiritual Director), and Ms. Sunitha Paul. The sessions focused on discovering one’s calling and purpose, understanding the roles and responsibilities of service, and embracing humility and servant leadership. The participants experienced the grace of the Holy Eucharist, confession, adoration, and intercessory prayer for the Diocese.

A prayerful discernment process, accompanied by continuous adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, led to the announcement of the first DSC team of the Diocese of Karwar for 2025–2028. The team members are Stephen Almeida as coordinator and Grace Lobo as secretary, along with Maxim D’Souza, Lifard Rodrigues, Roshan Siddi, Sylvia Carvalho, and Stany D’Souza.

The Diocese warmly welcomes this new team, entrusting them with the mission of serving with humility, unity, and dedication. Their three-year term marks a new chapter in the spiritual journey of the Diocese, fostering communion and strengthening the faith of the people of God.
