Need-Based Survey Report of the Diocese of Karwar 2024-2025 Released

On 11th September 2025, the Diocese of Karwar successfully completed and released the Socio-Economic and Pastoral Need-Based Survey Report 2024–2025. This study, conducted across the seven deaneries of the diocese, seeks to assess the present realities of the Catholic community and provide a solid foundation for future pastoral governance and strategic planning. The Diocese of Karwar has also evolved the CCBI Pastoral Plan in the diocese, integrating its vision into pastoral and socio-economic priorities.

The key objectives of the study are
1.  To understand the Ground Reality of the Diocese
2. To deepen the Faith Life of the People
3. To explore Pastoral Initiatives,
4. To initiate Socio-Economic Development Services,
5. To enhance Human Dignity
The survey was conducted under the leadership of Sr. Perpetua Machado, DHM, along with her dedicated team, in collaboration with the Youth Commission of the diocese. The findings were compiled into a comprehensive book, which was officially released by Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, together with Fr. Baptist Gomes, Chancellor of the Diocese, and Sr. Perpetua Machado, DHM.
Sr. Perpetua presented a glimpse of the survey findings, after which diocesan priests engaged in group discussions to reflect on the challenges and opportunities highlighted. The secretaries of the deaneries then presented the collective responses.
In his concluding remarks, Bishop Duming Dias expressed deep gratitude to Sr. Perpetua and her entire team for their dedicated and tireless efforts in bringing the survey to fruition, emphasizing its importance as a guiding tool for the future pastoral and socio-economic mission of the Diocese of Karwar.
