A one-day seminar on AI and cyber awareness was held at Holy Cross Church, Shirali.
The Commission for Social Communication of the Diocese of Karwar, under the leadership of its Director, Rev. Fr. Stewart Fernandes, successfully organized a one-day seminar on “AI, Cyber Crime, and Cyber Security” at Holy Cross Church, Shirali. The event took place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the youth of the parish.
The seminar covered a wide range of contemporary topics, including the responsible use of media, the dangers of cybercrime, cyber security measures, the pros and cons of Android applications, and an introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, as well as hands-on sessions on photography and videography.
The program began with a warm welcome address by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Wilson Fernandes, who appreciated the efforts of the commission in educating young people on such important matters. The sessions were engaging and interactive, with group discussions that allowed the youth to express their views and clarify doubts.
At the end of the seminar, Aston Dcosta, the president of the parish youth, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource persons and organizers for their insightful presentations. Participants shared positive feedback, appreciating the relevance and richness of the topics discussed.
The Commission remains committed to equipping the faithful, especially the youth, with knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world wisely and ethically.
