Bishops’ pastoral visit to Mary, Mother of God Church, Kodani

A pastoral visit was held at Mary, Mother of God Church, Kodani, with Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, visiting the parish community. The Bishop was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Fr. John Abel, and the parishioners.

The pastoral programme commenced with a prayer service in the church, followed by the blessing of the cemetery. The Bishop met representatives of various parish groups, including the Catholic Women’s League, daily Mass servers, MCA children, choir, ICYM youth, altar boys, catechism teachers, EMHC members, liturgical animators and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He also met local parish leaders and members of the PPC, Finance Committee and Building Committee, listening to their experiences and encouraging them in their respective pastoral responsibilities.

During the visit, the Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist and spent time with the faithful through prayer, dialogue and pastoral engagement. The Bishop visited the homes of the sick and suffering and the religious house, expressing his pastoral concern and solidarity. He also visited the Bellimakki sub-station, where he met the faithful of the outstation community, listened to their concerns and encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith and active in the life of the Church.

The pastoral visit was an occasion of prayer, fellowship, dialogue and pastoral evaluation, strengthening unity and collaboration among the clergy, religious and lay faithful of the parish. At the conclusion of the visit, Fr. John Abel, Parish Priest, expressed his gratitude to the Bishop for his pastoral presence, guidance and encouragement. He also thanked all the parishioners, groups and individuals who contributed to the successful conduct of the pastoral visit.
