Career Guidance programs were conducted across the Karwar Diocese.
The Bala Pragathi Kendra Services and Education Commission successfully organized a series of career guidance programs for students of Classes 8th and 9th across various centers in the diocese from 11th to 14th April 2026. The initiative aimed at helping young students explore future career opportunities and understand the importance of early academic planning.
The programs were held at Prathibhodaya, Honnavar (11 April) – 172 students; KDDC, Karwar (12 April) – 60 students; Carmel School, Haliyal (13 April) – 54 students; and Ave Maria School, Sirsi (14 April) – 36 students. Altogether, over 320 students actively participated in these sessions.
Each program began with a prayer led by various priests, invoking God’s blessings for the success of the initiative. Sr. Saritha Dsouza extended a warm welcome at all venues and introduced the purpose of the program.
The sessions were mainly conducted by Fr. Stany Pinto, while the Sirsi session was led by Fr. Joswin D’Souza, Vice Principal of Don Bosco. The resource persons provided valuable guidance to students on identifying their interests and talents, understanding educational streams after high school, and exploring career opportunities in science, commerce, arts, and vocational fields.
They also emphasized the importance of goal setting, consistent effort, and the development of essential life skills such as communication, critical thinking, and adaptability. Special attention was given to values, discipline, and perseverance as key elements in building a successful and meaningful career. The interactive nature of the sessions encouraged students to actively participate, ask questions, and reflect on their future aspirations.
The programs proved to be highly beneficial, giving students clarity about future academic choices and motivating them towards personal and educational growth. Many students expressed increased confidence and a better understanding of career planning.
This series of career guidance programs stands as a meaningful initiative by the Bala Pragathi Kendra Services and Education Commission. Through the dedicated efforts of the resource persons and organizers, students were equipped with knowledge, inspiration, and a clearer vision for their future.
