Catechism Coordinators’ Training held at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Karwar
A training program for catechism coordinators was successfully conducted at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre on 26 April 2026. The program was organized by the Diocesan Commission for Faith Formation under the guidance of its director, Fr. Cyprian Silva.
Fr. Vijay Machado, Executive Secretary of the Faith Formation Commission of the CCBI, served as the resource person for the session. Through his enriching inputs, he offered deep insights into the identity and mission of a catechism coordinator. His sessions focused on clarifying the role of coordinators at both diocesan and parish levels, along with practical approaches to effectively animate catechetical ministry in the parish.
A key highlight of the program was the emphasis on developing concrete action plans for faith formation in the respective parishes. Participants were guided on the importance of structured planning, close collaboration with parish priests, and fostering active participation among children, youth, and families.
Catechism coordinators from 12 parishes—Shirali, Lower Kasarkod, Shirwad, Amadalli, Chendia, Yellapur, Gokarna, Matadakeri, Kajubag, Halga, Kumta, and Divalli—actively participated in the training and benefitted from the sessions.
At the end of the session, participants expressed their sincere gratitude and affirmed their willingness to collaborate actively with the Diocesan Commission for Faith Formation in strengthening catechetical ministry.
In his vote of thanks, Fr. Cyprian Silva acknowledged the guidance and support of the bishop, thanked the parish priests for deputing their coordinators, and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all attendees. He encouraged everyone to carry forward their mission with renewed zeal and commitment.
