On the joyful occasion of the Feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim, the grandparents of Jesus and the patron saints of grandparents, the Diocese of Karwar celebrated Grandparents’ Day with great enthusiasm in all the parishes of the diocese.

The celebrations began with the Holy Eucharist, during which special prayers were offered for grandparents and senior citizens. Following the Eucharistic celebration, grandparents and the elderly were felicitated as a gesture of appreciation for their lifelong dedication to their families, their steadfast faith, and their invaluable contribution to the Church and society.

The celebration was marked by the active involvement of children and youth, who took the initiative in organizing meaningful programmes to honour grandparents and the elderly. Their enthusiastic participation reflected the Church’s commitment to fostering love, gratitude, and respect across generations.

Many parishes organized cultural programmes, cake-cutting ceremonies, interactive sessions, and special moments where grandparents were invited to share their life experiences, wisdom, and inspiring stories with the younger generation. Parish priests wholeheartedly supported these initiatives, making the celebrations meaningful, joyful, and memorable for everyone.
