Diocese of Karwar hosts CRI Christmas Get-Together
The CRI Christmas Get-Together was joyfully celebrated on 21st December 2025 at the Bishop’s House, Shirwad, Karwar, which graciously hosted the program. The gathering brought together 65 members of the Conference of Religious of India (CRI) in a spirit of fellowship, prayer, and joyful preparation for the feast of Christmas.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by Rev. Fr. Silvan Rodrigues, Secretary for Clergy and Religious, who emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among religious as they prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ. The input session was conducted by Rev. Fr. Paul Melwyn D’Souza, who offered insightful reflections on the Apostolic Exhortation Dilexit Te of Pope Leo XIV, encouraging the participants to renew their apostolic zeal and commitment to religious life.
As part of spiritual preparation for Christmas, time was set aside for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, followed by the Holy Eucharist, solemnly celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar. The Bishop’s presence and pastoral leadership added deep spiritual significance to the celebration.
The festive spirit continued with Christmas carols rendered by the CRI members, creating a joyful and prayerful atmosphere. Bro. Bonaventure animated the gathering through engaging spot games, fostering solidarity and joy among the participants. As a gesture of love and appreciation, the Bishop distributed Christmas gifts to the Superiors of the Congregations.
Before the fellowship meal, Rev. Fr. Richard Rodrigues led the grace before meals. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Sr. Alphonsa, President of CRI, who expressed gratitude to the host, the Bishop’s House, and all those who contributed to the success of the event, especially Rev. Fr. Intru Pinto, Rev. Fr. Cyprian Silva, and Rev. Fr. Sachin D’Souza.
The celebration concluded with a sumptuous lunch, leaving the participants enriched by a meaningful experience of communion, prayer, and Christmas joy.
