Formation Program for New Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs)
The Diocesan Liturgical Commission, under the leadership of Fr. Cyprian Silva, successfully organized a two-day formation program for new Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) on 19th and 20th July 2025 at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Shirwad, Karwar.
A total of 75 participants from various parishes took part in this spiritually enriching and theologically grounded training. The sessions were led by experienced priests of the diocese, covering themes such as the Theology of the Eucharist, Sacramental Theology, the Liturgy of the Hours, and the spiritual disposition of an EMHC.
Fr. Thomas Fernandes, Fr. John Rodrigues, Fr. Sachin D’Souza, Fr. Gabriel Monis, and Fr. Wilson D’Souza enriched the sessions with deep theological insights and spiritual reflections. The highlight was the Holy Eucharist celebrated by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, who also distributed certificates and exhorted the ministers to remain rooted in Christ.
Fr. Cyprian Silva, the program coordinator, guided sessions on Church teachings and practical spiritual guidance for EMHCs and expressed heartfelt thanks to all. The program successfully strengthened lay participation in the liturgical life of the diocese.
