Foundation Stone Laid for Holy Cross Palliative Care Center, Manki Honavar.
A significant milestone was marked for the Diocese of Karwar on March 19, 2025, as Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, led the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Holy Cross Palliative Care Center in Manki, Honavar.
In his address, Bishop Duming Dias congratulated the Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King (FMCK) for taking up this compassionate ministry in the diocese. He emphasized the importance of serving all people without discrimination, embodying the spirit of Christ’s love. As the event coincided with the Feast of St. Joseph, the Bishop invoked his intercession, entrusting this mission to his patronage.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including Fr. Lawrence D’Silva, Dean of the Deanery; Sr. Fathima Rodrigues, Superior General of the FMCK Congregation; Sr. Elma Joseph FMCK, assistant general; and Sr. Nirmala James FMCK, Regional Superior of the southern Southern Region. Sr. Vergin B.V. Regional Councilor Fr. Vileat Fernandes, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church, Manki, along with several priests, religious, and lay faithful.
Following the foundation stone blessing, Bishop Duming Dias imparted his prayers for the success of the center, which aims to provide compassionate care to the suffering and terminally ill. This initiative stands as a testament to the FMCK’s unwavering commitment to serving humanity with dignity and love.
Sr. Sheela Dsouza, superior of the community, welcomed all the guests, and Sr. Jokina gave a vote of thanks.
