The Laity Commission of the Diocese of Karwar organized a meaningful get-together for CEOs and MDs of Catholic cooperative banks at Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, Karwar, on 25th July 2025.
The program began with an opening prayer and welcome address by Fr. Lancy Rodrigues, Director of the Diocesan Laity Commission.
Most Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, in his keynote message, emphasized the importance of strategic thinking and leadership. He introduced the concept of SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats), highlighting its relevance in both organizational and personal growth. He underlined the significance of planning in ensuring sustainable and mission-driven leadership in Catholic institutions.

Mr. George Fernandes, an experienced banker, offered valuable insights into the practical aspects of establishing a cooperative bank. He spoke about the necessary legal norms, the importance of selecting committed and competent staff, and the need for ongoing training and formation to ensure professional excellence and ethical standards.
Fr. Lancy Rodrigues expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Duming Dias for his visionary guidance, to all the resource persons, and to the CEOs/MDs who participated wholeheartedly, making the program a rich and fruitful experience.
The event concluded with a time of interactive discussion, sharing of experiences, and networking among participants.
