The Catholic Diocese of Karwar Education Commission organised the Pratibha Puraskar Award 2026 on 23 August 2026 at Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, Karwar, to honour students who secured top marks in the SSLC and PUC examinations.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, presided over the programme. Rev. Fr. Richard Rodrigues, Vicar General, welcomed the gathering, while Rev. Fr. Gabriel Lopes, Secretary, KDES, stated the purpose of the programme. Mr. George Fernandes, CDK President, and Mr. Leo Lewis, Think Tank Committee President, addressed the gathering and spoke about the value and significance of the programme in recognising and encouraging academic excellence among students. Dr. Asha was present at the programme.

In his presidential address, Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias appreciated the efforts of the students, parents, teachers and the Education Commission in promoting academic excellence. He encouraged the awardees to remain committed to their studies, uphold good values and use their talents responsibly for the betterment of society.

The Pratibha Puraskar Award ceremony was the highlight of the programme, with deserving students being honoured for their outstanding performance in the SSLC and PUC examinations. Four awardees shared their experiences on the occasion, expressing their gratitude for the recognition and speaking about their journey towards academic success.

Sisters Shanti and Sarita played an important role in the programme by compering the event, helping to coordinate the proceedings and ensuring the smooth conduct of the ceremony. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sumanta Zalki, followed by the Eucharistic celebration and lunch.

The Pratibha Puraskar Award 2026 served as a meaningful initiative to appreciate the hard work and dedication of students and to inspire them to strive for greater achievements in the future, reflecting the spirit of “Honouring Excellence, Inspiring the Future.”
