A Marriage Preparation Course was conducted from 11 to 13 September 2026 at DPC Hall, Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, Karwar, with 18 participants attending the programme.
The three-day course focused on various aspects of married life and Christian family living, helping the participants understand marriage as a lifelong vocation and a sacramental commitment. The sessions covered important themes such as Marriage as a Sacrament and Covenant, Relationship with In-laws and Parents, Conflicts and Reconciliation in Marriage, Human Anatomy, Complementarity of Man and Woman in the Plan of God, Intimacy and Communication, Family Finance, Canon Law and Marriage, Pro-life and Holiness of the Body, and Family Spirituality in Amoris Laetitia.
The course also gave importance to the spiritual preparation of the participants. Opportunities for Confession, Eucharistic Celebration and Holy Hour enabled them to deepen their relationship with God and recognize the importance of placing Christ at the centre of their future married life.
Group discussions formed an integral part of the programme, providing the participants with opportunities to share their thoughts, experiences and perspectives on different dimensions of married life. The participants were also given two topics to prepare and present through skits, which encouraged them to reflect on the themes in a practical, creative and engaging manner.
The participants expressed their happiness and appreciation for the course. The sessions helped them gain a deeper understanding of the meaning and responsibilities of marriage and highlighted the need for preparation at the personal, emotional, relational and spiritual levels.
The course encouraged the participants to approach marriage with greater awareness, responsibility and commitment, and to enter into married life with a deeper appreciation of its sacramental nature and vocation.
Overall, the Marriage Preparation Course was a meaningful opportunity for the participants to prepare consciously and responsibly for their future married life, strengthened by faith and guided by the presence of Christ at the centre of their relationship and family life.
