The Diocese of Karwar organised a three-day Marriage Preparation Course at Puneeth Sadan, Shirwad, from 24 to 26 July 2026, with the participation of 12 candidates preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage, including 5 girls and 7 boys.
The residential programme was designed to provide both spiritual formation and practical guidance, helping participants understand the sacredness and responsibilities of Christian marriage. Throughout the three days, various experts and resource persons conducted sessions on topics including Marriage and Intimacy, Marriage as a Covenant, Marriage and Canon Law, Relationship with In-Laws, Conflicts and Reconciliation in Marriage, Complementarity of Man and Woman in the Plan of God, Human Anatomy, Spirituality in Family Life, Pro-Life, and the Holiness of the Body. The sessions were presented in an engaging and practical manner, enabling the participants to appreciate the dignity, beauty, and challenges of married life.
As a residential programme, special emphasis was placed on the spiritual preparation of the participants. They actively participated in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), deepening their faith and preparing themselves prayerfully for their vocation to family life.
Interactive group discussions formed an important part of the course. Participants reflected on practical issues concerning marriage and family life, exchanged ideas, and confidently shared their insights with the larger group. These sessions fostered meaningful dialogue, active participation, and mutual learning among the candidates.
During the feedback session, the participants expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the programme. They shared that the course was well organised, the topics were relevant to present-day family life, and the sessions gave them greater confidence and a deeper understanding of the responsibilities, commitment, and joys of Christian marriage.
The Marriage Preparation Course concluded on a positive note, successfully combining spiritual enrichment, practical learning, and personal reflection. The programme equipped the participants to embrace the sacrament of marriage with greater faith, responsibility, and commitment, laying a strong foundation for a Christ-centred family life.
