The Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Unit was inaugurated at Holy Rosary Church, Siddapur, on 19th July 2026, with the participation of 29 children and two animators.
The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Stewart Fernandes, Secretary of the Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization, and concelebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza.
In his homily, Fr. Stewart reflected on the theme of patience, inspired by the Sunday liturgical readings. He also highlighted the importance of the Missionary Childhood Association, encouraging the children to grow as young missionaries by witnessing Christ through prayer, love, service, and missionary zeal.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a training session was conducted for the newly formed MCA Unit. Fr. Stewart introduced the children to the vision, aim, and objectives of the Missionary Childhood Association and explained its various activities. He encouraged them to actively participate in the mission of the Church through prayer, sacrifice, and outreach to children around the world.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Lawrence D’Souza expressed his gratitude to Fr. Stewart Fernandes for guiding the children and inaugurating the unit. He encouraged the children to remain close to Jesus with the simplicity, humility and joy of little children and to participate enthusiastically in the activities of the MCA.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from the children and animators to actively participate in the missionary life of the parish through the Missionary Childhood Association.
