MCA Unit Inaugurated at St. Joseph’s Church, Manaki, Kumta

The Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Unit was officially inaugurated at St. Joseph’s Church, Manaki, on 28 June 2026, marking a joyful beginning for the children’s missionary movement in the parish. Thirty children enrolled in the newly formed MCA unit.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Stewart Fernandes, Secretary of the Commission for Proclamation and Evangelization. In his homily, he reflected on the theme of hospitality, calling the faithful to welcome one another with Christ’s love. He also spoke on the significance of the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) and the importance of Laity Sunday, highlighting the vital role of children and the laity in the Church’s mission.

The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Holy Mass. During the Profession of Faith, all the children lit candles as a symbolic expression of their commitment to become young missionaries and witnesses of Christ. The eucharistic celebration was attended by Fr. Anecletus D’Mello, Parish Priest, Fr. Lawrence Fernandes, Dn. Blisson, MCA animators, and the MCA children.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, a formation and training programme on the Missionary Childhood Association was conducted for the children and animators. Fr. Anecletus D’Mello and Fr. Lawrence Fernandes actively participated throughout the sessions, encouraging the children and animators.

In his address, Fr. Anecletus D’Mello thanked Fr. Stewart Fernandes for establishing the MCA Unit in the parish and assured his wholehearted support for the growth and development of the movement. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the children and Fr. Lawrence Fernandes, expressing gratitude to Fr. Stewart Fernandes and all those who contributed to the successful inauguration and training programme.

The inauguration of the MCA Unit at St. Joseph’s Church, Manaki, is a significant step in nurturing missionary awareness among children and inspiring them to grow in faith, prayer, service, and missionary zeal.
