MCA Unit Installed at St. Anthony Church, Tarnamakki, Bhatkal.
St. Anthony Church, Tarnamakki, Bhatkal, joyfully welcomed the installation of its Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) unit in the parish. The Diocesan Director for Proclamation and Evangelization, Fr. Stewart Fernandes, presided over the Holy Eucharist, concelebrated by the parish priest, Fr. Joachim Monteiro.
In his homily, he reflected on the call of every Christian to live in constant readiness for the Lord, drawing inspiration from the Gospel. He explained that “being ready” means staying faithful in prayer, living a life of love and service, and responding promptly to God’s call in our daily duties. He connected this to the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), reminding the children that as young missionaries they are called to be ready to share God’s love—through prayer, sacrifice, and helping others know Jesus.
Following the Mass, together with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Joachim Monteiro, Fr. Stewart installed the MCA unit. The installation ceremony took place in a solemn and inspiring manner. The children, accompanied by their animator, took the MCA oath and lit candles as a symbol of their commitment to live and share the Gospel as young missionaries. He then conducted a seminar for the children, explaining the vision, mission, and activities of the MCA. A total of 28 children, accompanied by their animator, participated with great enthusiasm.
In his concluding words, Fr. Joachim Monteiro expressed his gratitude to the director for his guidance and encouragement and to all the children and their animator for their active participation. The event marked a new step in nurturing missionary zeal among the young members of the parish.
