Pastoral Parish Council (PPC) Training held at Kumta Deanery
On 16, March 2025, a fruitful Pastoral Parish Council (PPC) training session was held at St. John the Baptist Church, Kumta, with the participation of 118 members from various parishes of the Kumta Deanery.
The session began with a prayer service led by Fr. Chrysostom Rodrigues, who then delivered an insightful talk on the importance of PPCs. He elaborated on the themes of Ecclesia, its mission, constitution, and the threefold ministry of Christ, followed by an in-depth discussion on the Second Vatican Council’s emphasis on PPCs.
Fr. Lancy Rodrigues addressed the gathering on the topic “Role and Responsibilities of PPC Members” as outlined in Vatican II and the Code of Canon Law. He highlighted key themes emerging from these foundational documents, offering valuable insights into the pastoral role of PPC members.
Following the talks, participants engaged in parish-wise group discussions on “The Need for PPC” and “Its Role in the Catholic Church.” The active participation and serious deliberations of the groups were highly appreciated. A brief evaluation session was conducted before concluding the event with a sumptuous meal arranged by Fr. Chrysostom Rodrigues.
The PPC training proved to be an enriching and formative experience, equipping members with a deeper understanding of their mission in the Church.
