Pastoral visit held at St. Anthony’s Church, Ternamakki
The pastoral visit of Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias to St. Anthony’s Church, Ternamakki, was held on 12 and 13 September 2026. The visit provided an opportunity for prayer, pastoral interaction, fellowship, and spiritual renewal within the parish community.
The Bishop was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest and the parish community. He offered prayers in the church and at the parish cemetery and held an interaction with the clergy and parish leaders.
The principal event of the pastoral visit was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which Bishop Duming Dias administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 21 children. In his homily, he reflected on the presence and action of the Holy Spirit, urging the newly confirmed and the faithful to remain open to the guidance of the Spirit and to manifest their faith through love, forgiveness, service, and Christian witness.
The Bishop also met members of various parish associations and encouraged them to continue their apostolic and social commitments with renewed dedication. As part of his pastoral ministry, he visited sick and elderly parishioners in their homes, prayed with them and their families, and administered Holy Communion to those unable to participate in the Eucharistic celebration.
He further visited priests and religious sisters associated with the parish, fostering fraternity and communion. His personal interactions with the faithful and the wider community provided an opportunity to extend pastoral encouragement and blessings.
Fr. Joachim Monteiro expressed gratitude to the Bishop for his pastoral presence, guidance, and concern for the parish community and acknowledged the contribution of parishioners, volunteers, parish associations, and well-wishers in making the visit meaningful.
The pastoral visit concluded as a grace-filled occasion, strengthening the parish community in faith, communion, and commitment to Christian witness under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
