Pastoral visit to St. Francis Xavier Church, Bailur

Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, carried out his pastoral visit to St. Francis Xavier Church, Bailur, on 18th and 19th April 2026. The parish community joyfully welcomed him, and the parish priest, Fr. William D’Souza, extended a warm and heartfelt reception at the beginning of the visit.

The visit unfolded as a grace-filled time of prayer, reflection, and togetherness. It began with a meaningful prayer service, followed by prayers at the cemetery, remembering the faithful departed. The bishop also visited the sick, bringing them comfort, blessings, and the assurance of the Church’s care. The day included a review of parish files and registers, reflecting the importance of responsible and organized parish administration.

The following day began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, drawing the faithful closer to Christ. In his address, the bishop encouraged the congregation to deepen their faith and actively participate in the life and mission of the Church.

He met various parish groups, including the children of the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), the youth of ICYM, members of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), and the Parish Finance Committee (PFC). The Catholic Women’s League were also appreciated for their dedicated and generous service.

A significant highlight of the visit was the meeting along with the inauguration of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, marking a renewed commitment to charity and service within the parish. The pastoral visit concluded with a meeting with the parish priest, reflecting on the parish’s journey and looking ahead with hope and renewed dedication. Overall, the visit was a beautiful and enriching experience, strengthening unity, faith, and the spirit of service among the faithful of Bailur Parish.
