Training Seminar for Newly Elected Parish Council Members of Yallapur Taluka

On 23 February 2025 A training seminar for the newly elected Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) members of Yellapur Taluka was held at Yellapur, with 66 members in attendance. The seminar began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, attended by both the participants and the parishioners.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Nirmal Miranda, Director of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre and Coordinator of all Diocesan Commissions, emphasized the call to be “merciful as our Heavenly Father.” The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Peter Carneiro, played a vital role in ensuring the smooth organization of the event, while the dean, Rev. Fr. Raymond Fernandes, meticulously oversaw the minute arrangements.

Following a meaningful and prayerful inauguration by the Yellapur team, Fr. Nirmal, as the chief resource person, led two insightful sessions. He highlighted the mission of PPC members, their responsibilities, and their role as a vital link between the parish priest and the ward members. A panel discussion and report presentation, moderated by Fr. Raymond Fernandes, allowed participants to share their insights and reflections on the day’s learning. The feedback showcased the enthusiasm of the members, many of whom expressed a strong desire for such training seminars to be held annually as part of their ongoing formation.

Fr. Nirmal Miranda, in the name of His Lordship, the Bishop of Karwar, expressed gratitude to the parish priests for encouraging their PPC members to attend the seminar. The Dean, Fr. Raymond Fernandes, for his full-day participation and guidance. The parish priest of Yellapur, Fr. Peter Carneiro, for his unwavering support in organizing the event. Fr. Roystan Gonsalves for generously providing the Mother Teresa School Hall as the venue. A special note of appreciation was extended to the Women’s Commission of Yellapur Parish, who prepared a delicious and sumptuous breakfast and lunch for all participants.

The seminar was a fruitful and enriching experience for all, strengthening the commitment of the PPC members to their mission in the church.
