Young Clergy Meeting at Dandeli Wooden Café: A Time of Renewal and Reflection
The young clergy of the diocese of Karwar gathered for a two-day meeting on March 17th and 18th at Dandeli Wooden Café. Nineteen priests participated in this enriching gathering, which fostered spiritual renewal, fraternity, and pastoral discussions.
On the evening of March 17th, the young priests gathered for a time of fellowship, fostering fraternity and strengthening their bond as priests. The gathering provided a refreshing and rejuvenating experience, engaging in meaningful conversations, sharing their joys and struggles, and supporting one another in their priestly ministry.
The evening concluded with a solemn preparation for the next day’s liturgy, ensuring a spiritually enriching celebration. The priests then came together in prayer, reciting the Holy Rosary, entrusting their ministry and intentions to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The day began with morning prayer, followed by an inspiring spiritual talk by Fr. Stephen D’Souza, Parish Priest of Joida Church. Drawing from his personal experiences, he encouraged the clergy to be men of deep prayer, lovers of the Word of God, positive leaders, and patient shepherds.
A key highlight of the meeting was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Bishop Duming Dias. In his homily, the bishop emphasized three essential aspects of priestly life: ensuring harmony between words and actions, avoiding the pursuit of power and position, and embracing humility while reaching out to the needs of the people.
Later, Bishop Duming Dias addressed the gathering, providing valuable insights on dicasteries, diocesan, and national commissions. He stressed the importance of structured pastoral efforts to enhance the mission of the church. His talk was followed by an open discussion, where priests shared their pastoral concerns and sought guidance.
Fr. Rohan Gonsalves, the secretary, presented the previous meeting reports, and Fr. Bastanv Nazareth expressed gratitude to the bishop, resort owner, Mr. Jerome Fernandes, and donor Camilo Nazareth for their support in hosting the event.
The gathering concluded with a renewed sense of commitment among the young clergy to serve with humility, prayerfulness, and zeal for the mission of Christ.
