On November 25, 2024, at 5:00 pm, the foundation stone for the Chapel at Handli, part of Yedoga Parish, was blessed in a solemn ceremony presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias. The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Urban Santosh Fernandes, along with the dean, Fr. Raymond Fernandes, and priests Fr. Natividade Rodrigues and Fr. Wilson Noronha, witnessed the occasion with their presence.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of about 75 people, including several local non-Catholics, who joined in the celebration, reflecting the spirit of unity and joy in the community. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the spiritual journey of the parish, filling the faithful with gratitude and hope.

On 24th 2024, Our Lady of Assumption Church in Kajubag witnessed a sacred and joyous occasion as 119 candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation. There were 5 priests present for the eucharist. Before the celebration, the bishop was brought in procession. The ceremony, filled with reverence and spiritual significance, was presided over by Bishop Duming Dias, who imparted the Holy Spirit upon the confirmands.

The candidates, ranging in age and backgrounds, eagerly approached the altar, preparing to embrace the grace of this important sacrament. Throughout the service, Bishop Dias offered words of wisdom and encouragement, urging the confirmands to live their lives in accordance with the teachings of the Church and to be witnesses of Christ’s love in the world.

As the candidates were anointed with sacred chrism and received the gift of the Holy Spirit, the atmosphere was filled with hope and renewal. The sacred ceremony was presided over by Bishop Duming Dias, who administered the sacrament and imparted the gifts of the Holy Spirit to the confirmands. There were 4 priests present.

The candidates, representing a diverse group from the parish, gathered with their families and friends to celebrate this significant milestone in their spiritual journey. Marriage Preparation Course held at Puneet Sadan, Shirwad.

A three-day Residential Marriage Preparation Course (MPC), held from 22nd to 24th November, 2024, at Puneet Sadan, Shirwad, successfully concluded with 33 participants. The primary focus of the course was to help the participants understand and appreciate the richness of marriage in accordance with the teachings of the Church.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, bishop of Karwar, met the participants and shared valuable guidelines on how to lead a joyful and fulfilling married life. This session saw the addition of two new resource persons to the resource team of the Family Commission, enhancing the course with fresh insights. Participants engaged in interactive sessions and discussions, praising the practical advice and supportive environment.

Organizers emphasized the importance of such courses in fostering strong, healthy relationships and encouraged the participants to stay connected with the commission for future guidance and support in their married lives. The course concluded with a certificate ceremony.

On 20th November 2024, St. Joseph the Worker Church in Ambewadi marked a momentous occasion as it celebrated its Silver Jubilee with a grand and joyous event. The celebration, commemorating 25 years of spiritual growth and community service, was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Bishop Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar.

The Silver Jubilee Mass was a solemn yet uplifting occasion, with the congregation coming together to reflect on the blessings, challenges, and milestones of the past 25 years. The Church, which has been a beacon of faith for the local community, has grown from strength to strength under the leadership of dedicated clergy and the active participation of parishioners.

Bishop Duming Dias, in his homily, highlighted the importance of faith, unity, and service to the community. He expressed his joy and gratitude for the church’s continued role in nurturing spiritual growth and its outreach to the people of Ambewadi.

The event was attended by 42 priests and around 1000 faithful, local dignitaries, all coming together to honor the church’s journey of 25 years. The celebration was filled with heartfelt prayers, hymns, and moments of fellowship, creating a sense of gratitude and hope for the future.

The Silver Jubilee celebration also included a special felicitation ceremony for the long-standing contributors to the church’s mission. As the St. Joseph the Worker Church continues its journey of faith and service, the Silver Jubilee served as a reminder of God’s grace and the importance of community in fostering a spirit of love and devotion.

On 18th November 2024, a significant and joyous occasion took place at St. Francis Assisi Church in Hadinbal. 76 children from the parish received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The ceremony was conducted by the Most Rev. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, who presided over the event with great reverence and spiritual guidance.

The Confirmation Mass began with a warm welcome from the parish priest, followed by a beautiful liturgy that included hymns, prayers, and reflections on the importance of the sacrament. The children, who had been preparing for months under the guidance of their teachers, approached the altar with great devotion and eagerness to receive the Holy Spirit through the sacrament.

Bishop Duming Dias, in his homily, emphasized the significance of the sacrament as a strengthening of one’s faith and a commitment to living as active members of the Church. He urged the candidates to stay true to their Christian values, remain strong in their faith, and continue their journey of spiritual growth.

After the homily, each child was individually called forward to receive the sacrament of confirmation, as the bishop anointed them with the sacred Chrism oil, signifying their full initiation into the Church and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

The entire congregation joined in prayer, supporting the candidates as they received this important sacrament, which marked a new chapter in their spiritual lives. The ceremony was a moment of great joy and reflection, not only for the children but for their families and the entire parish community. Around 1000 people witnessed this great event.

On November 18, 2024, a significant event took place at St. Sebastian Church, Gerusoppa, as the newly constructed Mother Mary Grotto was blessed by Bishop Duming Dias. The blessing ceremony was attended by around 250 faithful.

The ceremony commenced with a solemn procession, led by the Most. Rev. Dr. Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Britto Dsilva. Rev. Fr. Intru Pinto and Rev. Fr. Miltan Souza and parishioners. The Grotto was blessed, followed by a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided by Bishop Duming Dias. In his homily, Bishop highlighted the importance of the grotto as a place of prayer, reflection, and spiritual solace. He encouraged the faithful to seek the intercession of Mother Mary in times of need and to use the grotto as a space for personal devotion and peace. During the holy Eucharist, special prayers were made for all the donors who contributed for the construction of the grotto.

Fr. Intru Pinto extended gratitude to all the benefactors, whose generosity made this project possible. After the holy Eucharist, there was a facilitation program for the bishop and all the workers who helped in the work of construction. The blessing was a moment of joy and celebration for the local community, who had contributed greatly to the project.

The ceremony concluded with a prayer for peace, health, and blessings for all present. The faithful were invited to visit the grotto and offer their prayers to Mary, trusting in her intercession.

On Monday, 17th November 2024, St. Anthony Church in Kumta was filled with joy and spiritual fervor as Bishop Duming Dias, the Bishop of Karwar, presided over the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. The ceremony was a momentous occasion for the parish community, as a group of young faithful received the gifts of the Holy Spirit and were sealed with the grace of confirmation.

The service began with a solemn procession and a warm welcome by the parish priest, Fr. John Abel, who expressed his gratitude to Bishop Dias for his presence and leadership. In his homily, Bishop Duming Dias encouraged the young believers to live out their faith with courage and commitment, reminding them that the Holy Spirit would guide them through life’s challenges and joys.

A total of 19 young men and women from the parish received the sacrament, surrounded by their families, friends, and members of the parish community. The confirmation candidates had been preparing for this day through months of spiritual formation and catechesis, led by the parish catechism team.

The ceremony was marked by prayer, hymns, and moments of reflection, and the newly confirmed members of the church were greeted with blessings and congratulations from their loved ones.

The Kajubag Deanery organized a one-day Altar Boys Day Program at St. Joseph’s PU College Hall, Karwar. The event witnessed the participation of 104 altar boys, along with 9 priests and 1 nun. The program aimed to enrich the spiritual and liturgical understanding of the participants and foster communion among them.

The program began with a warm welcome, followed by an input session by Fr. Silvan, the Vocation Promoter of the Diocese. He delivered an engaging talk on the topic of “vocation,” which included interactive discussions, group activities, and animation sessions, emphasizing the call to serve and the importance of discerning one’s vocation.

In the second session, Fr. Baptist, the Chancellor of the Diocese, enlightened the participants on the role of altar boys in the liturgy. His insightful session focused on the responsibilities and significance of Altar Boys in enhancing the solemnity and sanctity of liturgical celebrations.

To test their knowledge and familiarity with liturgical items, a memory test was conducted for the participants, which added a competitive and engaging aspect to the event.

Post-lunch, the program featured a variety of group activities and games that encouraged teamwork, leadership, and individual talents. These activities fostered bonding and provided a refreshing break from the structured sessions.

The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing the outstanding performers in the various activities. The program ended with a vote of thanks and a light refreshment session with tea and snacks, leaving the participants inspired and rejuvenated.

The event was a resounding success, offering the Altar Boys an opportunity to deepen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities while creating cherished memories with their peers.
